Bolt started with a question about where the money goes. A laptop good enough for real work costs thousands, and most of that buys a processor and memory that sit idle almost all the time you own them. Meanwhile the parts you actually touch, the screen and the keyboard and the trackpad, are where manufacturers cut to hit a price.

That seemed backwards. Bolt is the argument that it is: put the money into the parts you touch, and borrow the part you do not. The processor and memory live in a data center, which is why a Bolt can keep up with machines costing far more, and why it should still be keeping up in five years.

Bolt is a product of Euvessa Products LLC, built in the Tampa Bay area. There is no venture money behind it and no board asking for growth. That is worth knowing for two reasons. It is why this site says what the product cannot do as plainly as what it can, and it is why you should read the order policy before you order: a small company taking money for a product that is not shipping yet is a real risk, and we would rather you weigh it than discover it.
